It takes a village to help individuals and families to overcome financial vulnerability – it cannot be done by the Debtor alone. Having financial security, without an overwhelming burden of debt, is foundational to a better quality of life for Canadians.
That’s why the Canadian Debtors Association believes in collaborating to advocate for Debtors and their financial security. CDA works across the wide spectrum of the credit, debt, collections and insolvency industry.
Industry Engagement
The Canadian Debtors Association plans to engage across the debt and insolvency industry by:
1.
Being the national voice that financially vulnerable individuals and families deserve to have – a voice solely dedicated to improving their consumer finance journey and debt experience.
2.
Engaging with all stakeholders, including debt consulting and industry participants, in order to develop standards of ethical practice.
3.
Providing input and recommendations on legislative and policy matters with all levels of government and other regulatory bodies, concerning consumer credit and debt and the consulting and insolvency industry.
4.
Educating the public to deepen their awareness about the debt industry and insolvency system and the importance of embracing sound financial management principles into their lives.
5.
Engaging in research and publishing reports on issues of interest to industry participants as well as to the general public.
6.
Engaging with all debt consulting and insolvency industry participants to develop consensus on issues impacting financially vulnerable individuals and families and the debt consulting and insolvency industry.
