Canadian Debtors Association espouses high principles of conduct and ethical standards for its members.
Principles of conduct and ethical standards are very important elements that contribute to the confidence and the trust of Debtors and the public while also being a positive influence on the consumer credit industry and consumer protection. We understand that trust and confidence is not a given – it must be earned – and, rightfully so.
So, how is the Canadian Debtors Association going to do that?
We have developed and introduced a Code of Ethical Standards and Principles of Conduct (the Code). Canadian Debtors Association members support and endorse our Code of Ethical Standards and Principles of Conduct.
Our association’s professional members are motivated to improve the quality of life for Canadians through advocating for Debtors, assisting them to enhance their financial well-being and helping them to resolve their financial challenges.
Members want Debtors to have a better Debtor experience within our consumer credit industry that has traditionally favoured creditors, to the unfortunate detriment of Debtors.
Members recognize the importance of their role and responsibility. By conducting themselves ethically and performing to a high standard, both Debtors and the industry are better served.
The Canadian Debtors Association embraces the values of honesty, transparency, respect and integrity. I invite and welcome you to view our Code of Ethical Standards and Principles of Conduct.
